Puerto Rico Coffee Guide
Exploring Puerto Rico’s Local Cafés ☕
We’ve been exploring cafés across Puerto Rico and, as you can see from our map, there are many, even when we limit our list to shops serving exclusively Puerto Rican grown coffee. We’re discovering some wonderful favorites and hope you’ll have time to visit a few during your stay.
📍 Urbina’s Barista Coffee: Río Grande
Just minutes from El Yunque and close to the Rainforest Inn, Urbina’s Barista Coffee is a welcoming local favorite. The café proudly serves Puerto Rican–grown beans, prepared with care by skilled baristas.
Whether you prefer a classic espresso, cappuccino, or a smooth pour-over, Urbina’s offers a relaxed atmosphere and an authentic taste of the island’s coffee culture.
📍 Agape Kafe: Carolina
Located between the Rainforest Inn and the airport, Agape Kafe serves “Café Serrano” beans roasted locally in Carolina.
When viewing our Google map of recommended cafés and growers, simply click on Agape Kafe or any featured location to explore details or view the full list.
📍 Filtrado Café: Old San Juan
A visit to Filtrado Café in Old San Juan is well worth it. Owned by master brewer Enoc Rivera, the café opens at noon and is open until 7 p.m.
Enjoy a perfectly crafted cappuccino or one of his signature filtrado brews in the charming courtyard, an ideal place to relax after exploring the historic streets.
📍 Café La Estación
Another stop to consider, especially on your way from the airport, is Café La Estación. They serve the same delicious Chupacabra blend from Gustos Coffee that we proudly offer here at the Rainforest Inn.
